24th Of July Fun

For Pioneer Day this year we once again headed to my hometown for some small town fun. We were a little late getting on the road and made it just in time to see the parade come back around. Unfortunately most of the goodies had already been thrown out, so there was little left when we finally arrived at the gathering grounds. Luckily my girls are still young enough that all they needed to satisfy themselves was just a few treats.

After the parade we walked up to my parents house to visit for a little while. Turns out they didn't make it to the parade thanks to their washer leaking all over the place! We stayed there and let the girls enjoy Grandmas house for an hour or so, then headed back to the church for the classic roasted pig lunch! I asked Mike if we should really go to New Castle for the 24th, and all he could think about was the roasted pig they had last year, and he was sold on going again this year! What is it with men and food??

After eating, the girls were quick to run off and get wet! So glad I thought to bring their swimsuits!?? I was just too lazy to walk to the car and deal with the hassle of changing them. I figured they had a change of clothes, so what's the big deal?? Just get wet in your clothes!

Kayla was having a great time with the leaky hose. She was trying to drag it and put in the water troth, but didn't exactly succeed.

After lunch we walked backed to my parents house and spent the afternoon relaxing while Kayla took a nap. We were able to talk my parents into going to Marv's with us before we headed home. We drove to Enterprise and enjoyed awesome food and delicious shakes!

We decided to stop by the Nebeker's house on our way home to see if anything exciting was going on. Sure enough we showed up and they had spent ALL day cleaning out the pool in the backyard. We were just in time to enjoy some leisurely swimming, and would you know, I had the girls swimsuits!

They only filled the pool up a foot or so as to let the kids enjoy it with out having to be accompanied by an adult actually in the pool!

Kylie has somehow gotten brave and will put her head under the water. This is how she plugs her nose, too cute!! Her cousin Tanner was lucky enough to get in the shot, but it was the only one I could get of her!

Here she is, submersed in the water! She's since perfected the technique in the bathtub. Now she just pinches her nose shut.

That evening their neighbors were outside doing fireworks, so the kids all went out to watch. The neighbors were so nice and gave the kids some sparklers to enjoy! They were of course a BIG hit!
